AMUSE

Amuse was formed by lifelong friends Kaine Gibson (guitar) and Mike Muse (bass). In 2007 Amuse recorded their first EP “Tosche Station Lot Lizards” at Sonic Iguana Studios. The band continued doing shows and gained some recognition in their hometown area.

In 2012 Amuse recorded a follow up album titled “Love Songs For Your Dad” at Wes Deboy Studios in Indianapolis. After some touring the band quickly fell to a standstill with adulthood and the distance of then drummer Weston Jordan.

In late 2015 after strong bonds were built again with Muse and Gibson, it was clear that the desire to play music was still strong. Drummer Keith Tajc was recruited. Now with a new dynamic and a newer sound the band went  full throttle. The new songs have been well received and the band has been playing shows all over the Midwest and surrounding areas and somewhat gained a name for themselves. The new EP showcasing the new music is slated to release Aug 4th through Showoff frontman Chis Messer’s label “Dodgeball Records” followed by a follow-up LP through the label as well.

Some nice things said about Attic Salt:

“Attic Salt is one those bands that comes out of nowhere and blows you away Their sound is a mix of power pop that fits in the indie rock world as well as a resurgence of 90’s college rock. They are aggressive and melodic, everything a rock band should be.”

“I’m really digging this local-to-Springfield (IL) band called Attic Salt. Good crunchy, melodic, hooky rock with alternating male and female vocals. Right on.”

SHOWOFF

Back in the late 90’s, Showoff was the first band to be produced by the now legendary John Feldmann. As a result, they went from a fresh-faced local Chicago band to signed by a major label with little time to catch their breath. While they celebrated a relatively huge success with their first release, they succumbed to the typical major label woes and never got to release their 2nd album due to legal red tape.

As these things go, the dust finally settled and in mid-2014 the band reformed with a mostly original lineup. One thing remains constant: They are all huge fans of the music they create, and feel that they are absolutely at their peak when they are working together to make each song all that it can be. It was a no-brainer to get into the studio and record this latest batch of songs, and they hope you’ll agree that they’re about to release our best work to date.

The Holy Dark has a “sounds like folk but feels like soul” stage presence
which is highly regarded as a must-see performance.

Previously performing under his own name, John Miller started releasing full-length studio records in 2009 with his first chapter “Shades of Autumn Everywhere” which was recorded in Morgan Hill, California at dB Sound Studios with Ben Whittaker. This first installment immediately put him on the local radar.

John Miller continued as a solo outfit for the release of his second full-length studio record “Beneath The Willow” which was also recorded with Ben Whittaker in 2012.

By this time it became clear that Miller’s next steps would lead him into something very new and much larger.

With inspiration by the cosmically profound poetry of Tracy K. Smith The Holy Dark found it’s name and is releasing “Pretty Little Bird” with the support of Showoff frontman Chris Messer’s label “Dodgeball Records” on October 31st of 2017.

Turnspit

Turnspit are one of Chicago’s hardest working bands.

Made of grit, sweat and soulful prowess, Turnspit were born out of a moment of bliss during a Samiam set at Riot Fest in 2014 when they were “feeling the itch” to ditch the solo gigs and form a band. Since 2014, Turnspit have been leaning into the music scene non-stop with recording singles and EPs at Atlas Studios to playing frequent shows in the city. Having shared a stage with bands like The Lawrence Arms, Worriers, Dowsing, Meridian, RVIVR, Worship This!, and Alkaline Trio since then, the group felt their biggest moment of joy when they played the Heather Owen Stage during Riot Fest 2017.

The punk foursome grasp the livelihood of the city’s music scene when they’re not making their own tracks. Drummer Dan Tinkler is a sound engineer at Atlas Studios, guitarist and vocalist Jason Swearingen is a graphic designer and illustrator/artist, vocalist and guitarist Gillian McGhee works at Cobra Lounge and volunteers at a local animal shelter (One Tail At A Time) and Bradley Davis is a stage manager at Thalia Hall. Not only does the group give back to the scene they love, they’re socially conscious with their performances and donate proceeds from some shows to organizations like RAINN, Girl Forward and spread the message of inclusivity.

Weaving influences into their midwestern skate punk tracks with poetic sensibility, Turnspit are in the wheelhouse of their favorite bands: The Gaslight Anthem, The Menzingers, Rise Against, Lucero, Hot Water Music and Against Me! Taking some pointers to heart, McGhee said Chuck Ragan’s Covering Ground influenced her iconic “growl.”

“I wanted to be able to produce that sound with my voice and put my own spin on it,” McGhee said. “I’ve worked on my vocal delivery for years and am very proud of my ability to go from soft and pretty to harsh and gritty.”

Their debut record, Desire Paths, will be released in 2018 via Dodgeball Records.
